Have you ever noticed how most Texans refer to their home state?

Answer 1 :
secretly they are thinking. "The Country Of Texas"
Answer 2 :
In 1836 Texas won its independence from Mexico and became an independent Republic. It wasn't until 1845 when it joined the United States as the 28th state. The mindset is they were already independent and hope to stay that way. The thing is that the state was swallowed up like the rest of the surrounding land for the sole purpose of human expansion and progress.
Answer 3 :
I never noticed, but I'll be listening for it now!
Answer 4 :
Yep...I live in Austin, TX and have lived in Texas all my life. It's been my experience that we Texans are probably the most proud of our state more than others for some reason. There is alot of Texas pride everywhere we go here...it's inescapable.
Answer 5 :
Texas was stolen from Mexico so initially they had an inferiority complex. As the Mexicans and American Indians were replaced w. Anglo Saxon settlers they coped with being taken over by conspiring w. the settlers to agree that they were in the biggest and best State. Then along came Alaska, micro electronics and compact cars! Somewhere along the line they missed the bible/life class that taught that 'pride' was/is one of the deadly sins.

Answer 1 :
i dont see why not. start applying its a long process but they offer great benefits
Answer 2 :
Simple answer, yes it is a possibility. However, when you apply you can select three choices for which region you would like to be posted in. Each region encompasses at least 1 to 2 Border Patrol sectors. Each sector has several stations. A job offer will be to a specific station and sector. If you are presented a job offer and that offer is for your 2nd or 3rd choice, you may turn it down and not be removed from the applicant pool. If you are offered your first choice of region (notice I didn't say station), and you decline that offer, then you are removed from the applicant pool. The region encompassing Corpus Christi spans as far west as Laredo Sector. So, you could be offered a position in Hebbronville, Laredo (north or south), Rio Grande City or Falfurrias; just to name a few. The Border Patrol has assigned interns to Corpus Christi, but it is a small station and the intern assignments there are rare and very few. The best bet to get to Corpus Christi is the Voluntary Relocation Program or promotion. Agents that have completed their probationary internship can apply for voluntary relocation to the station of their choice. The relocation is not guaranteed though. There has to be an open slot at the station to which you apply and then you will compete with other agents that have applied for transfer.

what refineries in the corpus christi area can ex convicts work at?
I was released in 2008, and I am NOT on parole. I have served all of my time, and I am done. I want to work in the refineries, but I am told that even with a TWIC card, I'll never work at any of them. Is this true? Serious answers only, please, I am trying to better myself, and have a good life for once.

You have to have access to a wifi router ($40) or access point. If you go to the Internet Settings and do a scan and you find nothing or nothing about 80% then you are probably out of luck. Try going near a high school, college, starbuck, McDonalds, bookstore or Library. Some may not be free

Some lawyers will work with payment some won't. Some will for a time and some won't. You need to go to your local yellow pages and find a shark that will work on a payment plan. That is the only way to find out. Go do your work!

About Is there a safe, low-cost hotel in Corpus Christi

Is there a safe, low-cost hotel in Corpus Christi?
I live in Houston but am doing volunteer work in Corpus Christi. The drive is 3-4 hours each way, and I think it may be more time efficient to find a low-cost hotel in the area and stay overnight between some shifts. Are there any hotels in Corpus Christi that are cheap, but still in a safe area? Thanks.

Answer 1 :
you will work where you are needed most - you can appy to work anywhere
Answer 2 :
seeing how not many swim in from the gulf, i'd doubt it....
Answer 3 :
You may be able to list your preferences, and if you have seniority, you have a chance of getting one of your preferred places. But you will be assigned where you are needed, and moved around from time to time. Agents are rotated from place to place, mainly because of shifting needs, but also in part to ensure agents do not get "stale" in the same place, and in part to prevent collusion, etc.
Answer 4 :
No. You will work where you are assigned. I believe you can request a station and if it is available, you can have it.
Answer 5 :
Simple answer, yes it is a possibility. However, when you apply you can select three choices for which region you would like to be posted in. Each region encompasses at least 1 to 2 Border Patrol sectors. Each sector has several stations. A job offer will be to a specific station and sector. Also, agents are not moved around without applying for transfer via the Voluntary Relocation Program or through promotion. The only personnel that may be transferred involuntarily are supervisory and managerial agents. Bargaining unit agents (Border Patrol Interns, Border Patrol Agents and the few Senior Patrol Agents left) cannot be involuntarily transferred. This holds true for any reason. I only know of a few supervisory or managerial agents that have been mandatorily transferred and those were extraordinary circumstances.
