Which is better to live in - Corpus Christi or San Antonio?
I'm living in San Diego CA right now, looking to move for a few months to Tx. My sister is going to living in CC (her husband is active duty), i'm single, mid 20s, working as a travel nurse. Where should I go?!

You will be disappointed coming from San Diego and moving to Corpus Christi. It's quaint, but not near as spectacular or beautiful as San Diego. San Antonio has it's own personality but other than being less expensive than San Diego, I don't know how you can compare the two. San Diego is beautiful clearly. San Antonio is more crude, but downtown is very pretty and outside the area among the hill country is beautiful. Remember San Diego is far smaller than San Antonio and the transportation there is amazing. San Antonio has going for it a less expensive economy. But, for how long with all the folks moving in as we become larger and larger in such a short period is unknown.

neither you will hate san antonio to death the traffic and construction are nightmares no matter what time you travel and stuff but if you HAVE to choose..i'd only say SA b/c i live here and i personally dont like corpus..its not that great, dirty, smelly, right on the gulf, you dont normally get storms but when you do they get nasty. but your risking alot moving from san diego to SA....thats a big mistake

I'd say San Antonio if you like festivals and to live downtown, and Corpus Christi if you really love the beach!

Corpus Christi is smaller and you would be closer to your sis. That in itself could be good or bad, lol. Either town is filled with gangs. As a Travel Nurse, you might meet more interesting people in CC because of the smaller towns around. But you would probably do more driving. The Hospitals here are terrible if you decide to work at one. You are probably safer in CC.

If you are going to be working in the nursing field San Antonio is going to be a better place to get a job with your skills. Texas coast is nothing like California coast. It is very humid most of the time at least in S.A. it does dry out in summer for the most part. San Antonio to Corpus is in all reality only a 2 hour drive down I37 so visiting your sister will not be a problem. I is very easy to make a day trip of it. When I go fishing I normally leave by 6am get there by 8am and return in the evening. I like the coast but the economy down there can not support the kind of job I do, and jobs are a little harder to come by. You are going to get a lot of opinions from young kids trash talking either city but the reality is that San Antonio right now along with Austin are among the fastest growing cities in the US. San Antonio also offers more of a variety of things to do. Crime is also going to be higher but not that bad for a city that has a metro area of around 2 million. They are not that far apart if I was in your shoes I would visit both cities for a few days, drive around and decide for yourself which city feels more like home to you. Check them out on the computer look at their chamber of commerce web sites, and do a job search on the web. Good luck...

Good day, In a way CC is like SD, the wind, water... Corpus is a nice size town.. Its clean, large military life and your sister...San Antonio is the 8 largest city in the US..we have wonderful things to offer..large Medical community, Military, night life, Spurs and Restaurants and museums.. Its a big city.. I would go to CC first and spend a few months w/ your Sister and get used to living in Texas...Its only 2-1/2 hours from SA. One thing you have got to get used to in Texas is Driving...I have lived in both.. So want ever you decide..happy trails

As a travel nurse you will have limited hospital selections in CC and as the hospitals are smaller a much more limited selection of positions. In San Antonio there is a large medical comples around the medical school in the South Texas Medical Center District, a new area forming in the Stone Oak Medical district and Several hospitals downtown and around the city. San Antonio and San Diego have similarities in size and in heritage though San Antonio does not have the coastal beauty of San Diego. Corpus Christi is a nice area for a weekend or a week long vacation, but you would find much more to do in the San Antonio Metroplex, the Hill Country and on the San Antonio-Austin Entertainment Cooridor. As many people will tell you, South Texas is nothing like Southern California, but then again neither is New York or New England. The reason to be a travel nurse is to see new areas... you can see the Corpus/ Port A in a long weekend. You will have a better time in San Antonio which is really the hub of South Texas. If I was looking for a place to see as a travel nurse I would look at an area that attracts over 20 million visitors a year. Besides, your sister will be 2 and 1/2 hours away and will probably want to come see you on the weekends! Viva San Antonio!

San Antonio. We have the best tasting water in Texas. I believe we also won the award for 3rd placed best tasting water in America. Corpus Christi water tastes strange. Our economy is booming, especially real estate. A lot of businesses are setting up branches/head quarters here in San Antonio too.

I've lived in corpus for 19 years, and I have to say that you would probably like san antonio better coming from san diego . Truth is there is not much to do in corpus unless you like fishing and going to the beach a lot. We're developing more which is good. But corpus is a big city, that acts like a small town. Downtown life isn't as alive as bigger cities, but we do have cool things living by the water, like the velocity games...windsurfers.etc... :) But if you like being close to your sister, then go for it, for an outisider it might be a nice change of pace for you, and houses/apartments here are cheap compared to san antonio or austin. I would recommend maybe looking at the suburbs of san antonio though, because you would still be able to find good work that wouldn't be too far away, but you'd also be away from all the drama..and TRAFFIC san antonio brings. and of course you'd still be a quick drive away to fun city events, concerts, nightlife, better restaurants etc. Corpus traffic is basically nothing if its not 9am for school, or rush hour at 5
