How did the people survive in the great corpus Christi hurricane flood without FEMA bailing them out?
How long did they stay in free housing? And refuse to go back to work and pay their own way? When did america change to be an entitlement mentality where every time there is loss the govt (i.e the rest of us) have to pick up the pieces so there is no suffering? Where in the constitution is that guaranteed?

Most of them didn't. Of course without FEMA around no one could pay tens of millions of dollars to unethical contractors that did not deliver any good or services. Not to mention no one had fun debating their ineptness at the corner store <Grin>

It's not.

Why can't more Americans be like you. I agree 100%. When did Americans start expecting a handout?

It depends on their population and the median income of those affected. It is much easier to coordinate something for 100 thousand people vs 1 million. Also Ray Nagin isn't the brightest bulb on the tree.

Granted, many people in this country are lazy and look for entitlements and handouts. But the assistance given to these people is not in the constitution, it's in the bible. If we are going to claim to be a christian nation, like the republicans shout from the rooftops every election, then we need to act like one and lend a hand to those less fortunate, regardless of whether we feel they deserve it or not
